Last year we gathered at my grandparents' house for my grandfather's birthday. He had been diagnosed with Cancer and wasn't given a very long time. After dinner, some of us took a walk around the block while my grandfather took a nap.

All of a sudden I smelled a smell that instantly transported back me back to my childhood and the times I had with my grandfather. I asked my mother if she smelled it and she pointed out the giant growths of jasmine growing along the sidewalk. "That's what you're smelling," she said. Until then I had never realized that was what they had been growing in their front yard all those years during my childhood.

Since then, my grandfather has passed away. But the second I smell jasmine, the perfume or flower, he's alive and with me.

So, no, I would never give up my sense of smell for any amount of money.

I miss my grandfather too much.

hey you're on a roll with good questions!
and there is some really great answers to this one too.

I wouldn't give up my sense of smell
for $1,000,000.

Miss out on the smell of leaves in the fall or freshly baked chocolate chip cookies in the oven or the smell of summertime rain?

or......a million other of my favorite smells......

It would be nice to have the power to turn the nose off at certain times though. :))

Yes.
I've always had a much more sensitive sniffer than anyone I've ever known and it's not easy to live with. I get dry heaves over someone's body odour in a store, and changing the garbage is a horrible experience. Every toilet makes my eyes water, and I can smell things burning or something awful in the fridge long before anyone else.

No, for your sense of smell, not only allows you to have the desire to eat, but it is the main component to your memory.
