I am doing an independent study project and I need some ideas on what to do it on. This will be a year long process, which will then be presented in front of a panel of judges. I'm open to any field of study (ie. math, science, history, etc...). If you could possibly give me some ideas on what you would be interested in, I would greatly appreciate it. If possible, please elaborate on details. Thanks.

i was searching the web for a picture of something totally unrelated, and came across this painting. i dont have the link i just assumed it was by hieronymus bosch based on the style. now im trying to find the name i dont have the original url for the painting, i can try to describe it. in the center of it is a building of some sort on fire. in the upper right is a grassless hill w/ trees w/ broken wheels on them and a man about to be beheaded by a skeleton. the lower right show what appears to be a battle w/ an army of skeletons marching behind large tower shields there is a man drawing a sword by a table w/ a white table cloth. in the background in the upper left is a hill w/ black smoke and a red sky coming out from it. the lower left has a king wearing plate armor is laying on his back w/ a skeletal figure behind him, he is next to some barrels of gold and silver with a skeletal figure in armor clamoring for the loot
i culd describe more but im runing out of room
thx ahead o time

Okay, so violence and ignorance go hand in hand, but do we need nirvana-like doses of enlightenment to avoid violence? Can small and quiet acts of daily kindness and well wishes make a big difference in the humanity's future? ... How about if billions of people adopted such a simple moral attitude? Or is inherent interest-based violence ultimately too powerful of a force for humanity to overcome?

my problem is that I am very deep and -even though I look tough - it is very easy for me to feel hurt, especially form the ones I love. For example, when my girlfriend says she doesn't answer my calls sometimes as she knows what I might say, I feel really hurt. When my students say: "I didn't like today's lesson, because it was too hard", I am in despair. Not to mention, when my friends tell me: "I don't feel like talking right now, call me tomorrow".
I am 25, very fit, people think I'm really tough and everything, which makes my problem even worse...
What shall I do?

to decide not to decide is a decision in of itself? So how can you believe in not believing, isn't that believing to not believe? so why do people say I choose not to believe? thats just confusing.

only smart answers please. :)

Well it's believed by some that it can be changed, i'm not really sure about that. if something goes wrong in your life is destiny really to be blamed for it.

Now be careful, the truth of truths is not that easy of a question as you might think. The truth of truths can not be denied by anybody and everybody answers the same, so in the world today there is no truth more true than this, so what is it?

I'm looking for some good sites that host Harry Potter/Buffy crossover fanfiction. I've already done many of the ones on fanfiction.net, went through the 'Back In Giles' Day...' thread at fictionalley.org, and have worked my way through Twisting the Hellmouth.

Anyone know any other good sites, thread, or just have a link to a good fic?

"On Thanksgiving For A National Victory"

Ye hypocrites are these your pranks
to murder men and give God thanks?
Desist, for shame proceed no further
God does ne want your thanks for murder.

I am aware that Islam does not consider that killing a person who has invaded a territory or who has killed a Muslim is "innocent" so under Islam it is not murder. Also, people from a COUNTRY which has invaded a territory or who has killed a Muslim are not considered to be "innocent", if I understand correctly.

People in the West, however, feel that shahids with cell phone detonators, car bombs or explosives taped to their midriff who kill the infidel, kuffar in the jihad of the cause of Allah - are murdering and mostly murdering INNOCENT people because the people that are dying are not soldiers.

Does God want us to kill others in His name?
