"On Thanksgiving For A National Victory"

Ye hypocrites are these your pranks
to murder men and give God thanks?
Desist, for shame proceed no further
God does ne want your thanks for murder.

I am aware that Islam does not consider that killing a person who has invaded a territory or who has killed a Muslim is "innocent" so under Islam it is not murder. Also, people from a COUNTRY which has invaded a territory or who has killed a Muslim are not considered to be "innocent", if I understand correctly.

People in the West, however, feel that shahids with cell phone detonators, car bombs or explosives taped to their midriff who kill the infidel, kuffar in the jihad of the cause of Allah - are murdering and mostly murdering INNOCENT people because the people that are dying are not soldiers.

Does God want us to kill others in His name?

If you read Leviticus, there's all kinds of people that god wants his followers to kill. And there are sects of Islam that condone killing as part of the concept of Jihad while others don't. It's a matter of interpretation for the most part. Every religion has some whack jobs that interpret their sacred texts in some bizzare fashion that justifies the hurting, killing, or degrading of people. Burns' poem could be applied to many people, though they will think that their interpretation of scripture is correct and that the murder they have committed is justified in the eyes of god.

The same could be applied to Christians, Jews, etc. Bush considers himself and God on best-buddy terms, yet he sends bombs galore all over the world and executed hundreds as Governor of Texas. Israel has killed about 1,000 over the past few weeks. So the answer--sure! But not just Muslims. Almost all religions have the same hypocrisy--don't lay it all on the Muslims. I don't think any gods would condone death.

Of course not! God wants us to love our enemies and to pray for those who persecute us. The so called God that fundamentalist in Jihad accept is under the guise of Satan. To Love because we recognize that we are loved is the divine purpose. To represent God in this form of our being will bring the True God glory.

you are mixing terms here...you should get more informed about islam as a religion, and jump out of the borders of what's happening today in the world. you would notice then, that islam is just easy to 'bend' and missunderstand...and missuse - it's easy to convince pepople that such terorist acts have to do (but REALLY) with religion as such.
and there are also variations on the theme...differently interpreted islam in different islam countries in the world...

might want to i say that because the church led to such an rather good type of witch burnings, then all christians were murderers and that christianity is a faith of hatred and demise? or that all and distinctive roman catholic clergymen are pedophiles? And definite, muslim extremists who kill in the call of religion are killers, a twin of the different type of extremist. yet which could no longer all-inclusive. muslim extremist isn't synonymous with muslim. the latter covers an rather huge decision of human beings and beliefs. yet excuse me, to cite your 2d paragraph, do you concentration on someone who has killed yet another (be they muslim or in the different case) "innocuous"? even the bible says "an eye fixed for an eye fixed", even inspite of the undeniable fact that i do no longer recommend that. and NO, God does no longer desire us to kill in His call. guns do not kill, human beings do.

Did not Jesus warn us of such things..........
Did not Mohammad change the truth from Jacob to Esau
Did not Mohammad fail to see that when Michael Comes He fights in the Name of Jesus for the Jews ?

Your not asking a question just affirming what you know is true.

That poem was written to a "Christian nation" thanking God for victory over who that nation perceived as "enemies" during that era. It could be applied to any nation thanking God for victory over who they percieve as their enemies at any point in time.
It does seem rather hypocritical to manipulate "God" to make righteous what may actually be very unrighteous.

Good old Robbie Burns - he had it right.

Of course not. You must remember not all Muslim people feel that murdering INNOCENT people is what God wants. It's only the fanatics who feel this way. Don't lump them all together.

My question to you would be, does God want us accept oppression? Do we not stand up for our rights to live as we choose? Do we allow others take away our dignity? Does God permit self defense?
