I would not compare even the best graphic novels I've read with the truly great writers of today, writers like Cormac McCarthy, Don DeLillo, Philip Roth, Cynthia Ozick and what have you. However, as a fan of Neil Gaiman's Sandman series (currently on volume five), Maus, and several other graphic novels, and as someone who has read some of the young writers (such as David Foster Wallace) that are supposed to be the future of literature, I think graphic novels can easily compare with the "future" great writers. Do you think graphic novels get a bad reputation? Should they be considered quality literature?

Can anyone recommend a good website with information about firearms of the old west? I'm working on a short story now that has a western theme to it. The problem is,I don't want to pigeonhole my characters by making them all carry Peacemakers and Winchesters and such. Even though they were quite popular,I know not everyone carried Peacemakers back then.

Okay. I'm entering into a musical contest next month. It's a solo act, 1 song, only 90 seconds to sing it (can cut out a verse or something to make the song short enough). Must be sung a'capella. I spoke to a couple of the judges yesterday, and they are looking for 'known' peices (just meaning that they want to be able to recognize the song).

I'm 19 and have good breath control and diversity in dynamics. I can sing anything from tenor - soprano 1, and I like most every genre. Though, I do prefer to sing broadway music, or country.I'm just asking for opinions of what to sing. I've already gone through my list, and not liked any that I saw. And I'm looking at a couple that were already suggested, and really didn't seem to like any.
So, if you can think of anything that may fit the limits of the contest, I'd definitely appreciate any answers :)

I have seen the movie numerous times and read the book about three times. There are some differences in the movie but it stays pretty true to the book. So the question is which one do you prefer. Book or movie?
