Because life is to be lived nanosecond by nanosecond and when everything is viewed the bad times are just as good as the good times are bad.
How does one know good without bad. Good doesn't build character or strength.
Bad gives us awareness of good and builds strength and character.
Good is the reward for living through the bad.

Because we don't have time machines. Also, if we could fast forward through all the bad times we wouldn't be able to learn anything from them.
