I have 4 already. I wanted one at your age too, but I waited until I was older. I am 45 now, and didn't get my first one until I was 35. I'm glad I waited, because I'm sure that something I would have picked out at 18 would not suit my taste now. Our likes and dislikes change as well as our interests as we get older. Remember a tattoo is forever, unless you want to spend mega amounts of money to have it lasered off. I also put mine in places where I can hide them if I want to. Some employers may not be too happy if you have tattoo's in visible places.

I personally find tattoos to be too permanent for my taste.
I would be scared to get something I enjoyed and liked "NOW" and then later down the road think "what the hell was I thinking?" 20 or 30 years later. It maybe really popular now, but will it be 20-30-40 years from now? Probably not. Just make sure its a place where you can hide it when you finally have a career where showing tattoos is inappropriate.

Only get what you want to look at forever. And only in places you can cover up.I have 8. Noone has to see them unless I show them. Don't let a tattoo keep you from the perfect job. Shock effect is a stupid reason to do it.
Think about something that is personal to you and means something. NO NAMES of persons whom you may think you will spend the rest of your life with. The only initials on my body are my own!

nope, fashion changes every day, what is fashionable now will not be 10 years from now. Would you wear clothes from the 80's? Your hair in a big poufy style? Tattoos are forever. My skin will be timeless. Yours will go out of fashion and you will be stuck with a rose on your breast that will get wrinkly and stretched as you age.

I have one, and I would get another one if I had the money. My tattoo is on my ankle and it is a cross with a rose in the middle, I love it. Make sure when you get one it's a tattoo that you will want forever and get it somewhere that is not too obvious and wont interfere with job possibilities later in life.

I wanted one when I was younger and never had one, for various reason., So when my oldest son turned 18, we went out together, one each. Now I have two, but I didn't like that dark blue colour that they usually use, so I got mine done in a sepia colour, some people don't even spot then, even though they're on my fore arms, coz the colour is more subtle.

I have a gecko on my right hip. It does have meaning, but it's a long story. Definitely get something that means something special to you and will in the future. What would happen if you got a tat w/ someone and y'all had a falling out? Then you would be stuck with this reminder of them for the rest of your life.

I came so close to getting one. Now that I am older, I am glad I didn't.
What changed my mind, was the fact that someday I wanted to be a wife
and a mom. And I thought how would I feel if my mom had a tattoo? Yuck!

I think they're fine, but not for me—I hate needles!!! Just be careful when selecting one if you're worried about the condition of it when you get older.
What may look like a dove when you're 18 might look more like a pterodactyl when you're 80... :)

I wouldn't, but having my name written in another language like Greek would make a nice tattoo
