Whatever it is, how do you know it? What methods do you use to determine the truth or falsity of a statement?

2006-07-11 14:51:28 · 18 answers · asked by Tim 4 in Philosophy

Okay here it goes.

Without you, there is no joy,
No smile, no laugh, no poise.

You're what my heart is beating for, the reason I am here,
I wanna shower you forever with my peace and love and care.

I dont really like that one that good. But I dunno, what do you think?

Okay, I have another. It is better I think.

I'll always be your lover,
I'll always be your friend,
For you and only you, my dear,
I'll love you 'til the end.

That one is my favorite. But I have one more.

We cannot be together,
Because I am too young,
But still my life is crazy,
By love it has been flung.

I hardly even know you,
But still this I know,
I wanna be there for you,
Through wind and rain, and snow.

Through your trials and your triumphs,
Your good times and your bad.
For you I wanna be here, when you're happy and you're sad.

That is all for now, but there might be more.

Mine would have to be...... H.P. Lovecraft. I love his stories and how much detail he goes into!

My story is about a group of teen runways/street urchins(six or seven, im still thinking about it) who live in Los Angelos in 2006. They get caught up in the gang culture and the teens have to deal with issues such as rascism, rape, pregnancy, violence, drugs, and sex. I'm still working on the charcaters, plot and setting.

I am writing a semi autobiographical novel but some things are painful and embarrassing so I change them round. My creative writing tutor is against this because an artist opens herself to the world. Two things. What if my mother reads it and will I get sued?
Writers only plse.

....the concept of the Universe with no ending or beginning; the resultant fact of time being the same? How does the infinitely small (beyond sub-atomic string resonances) tie in with the infinitely large(individual and/or parallel Universal Membranes, each with infinite space-time, within a Mega Universe(s) of, again, infinite numbers of "SuperMembranes")? How can one come even close to grasping such concepts as reality? What is infinity?

(1) I refuse to answer the following sorts of questions:

Qs I don't feel qualified to answer.
Qs the asker can easily websearch for themselves.
Qs the answer to which the asker seems too stupid to understand.
Qs that are intentionally stupid (unless they are also clever and funny).
Qs that are clearly asked to get attention rather than information.
Qs by askers whose command of English is so poor (not necessarily from stupidity) that they are unlikely to understand the answer.

(2) Questions I do answer:

Qs that are unintentionally stupid because the asker is confused, but seems intelligent.
Qs that are cliches (like, "What is the meaning of life?"). I answer them because cliches are usually also very relevant and in need of answering.

What I'm after are sorts (in both categories) I haven't already mentioned, and reasons for or against answering or not answering.

Sure, there's lots of theories flying around several assasinations, but they can't all be cover-ups, can they? Which one would you say is just so glaringly obvious that you're shocked it hasn't been exposed? Please give good reasoning behind your answer, I really would like to see some brainpower going here.

Because I work in it and I'm getting a horrible feeling that it's a load of pretentious w^^k. Backstage and not appreciated, stupid actresses giving me a pain in the a** and when you watch the TV news and all the bombings...
I thought I was contributing in a small way to something worthwhile and saving for wheels. I'm really down.
