"With my concealed and racking regrets for my broken idol and lost elysium..." (C. Bronte's "Jane Eyre" ch. 30)

Don't know what this means at all and I can't remember what she's talking about in general.

"The very name of love is an apple of discord between us" (C. Bronte's "Jane Eyre", ch. 34).

I love this part in the book, when Jane is trying to tell St. John that his idea of love and hers are far too different, but I don't know what this means.

And I have more allusion questions if you want to check them out.

"During the intervening period I had no time to nurse chimeras"(C. Bronte's "Jane Eyre" chapter 17).

I know what chimeras are but I still don't understand the allusion.

Think your pretty smart when it comes to allusions? Check out my other questions!

"A true Janian reply!" (C. Bronte's "Jane Eyre" chapter 22)

Rochester says this to Jane, though I know he's not refering to her when he says "Janian" in response to her saying, "I have been with my aunt, sir, who is dead."

And if you know a lot about literature, I have a lot more question on allusions... so...

"...to feel that the Rubicon was passed; and that trial, no longer shirked, must be firmly sustained"(Charlotte Bronte's "Jane Eyre" chapter 7).

I don't know what this sentence is alluding to, so if someone could help me it would be much appreciated.

I'll probably have a lot more questions like this so if you know a lot about history or literature, the favor would do a lot for me.

My novel does not give graphic details of sex between the leading characters although they do have sex from time to time, which I do mention without going into the details. What do you guys think I should do…. mention the details or keep it as it is.. I am uncomfy giving sex details, plus my novel is about two very simple, nice and sweet people... I feel sex will take that niceness away from them, if I mention it explicitly.... so guys please help me out with this one... Thanks!

Please indicate why, and use facts.

For example don't say: "Bush because his is fighting terrorism."
Please use concrete examples of what he did to fight terrorism (ie laws he helped to pass, acts he made etc).
