It just means that a great mind thinks in a certian way, that ends up coming up with a solution to a problem, that to them is self evident... Other intelligent people may come up with the same solution independantly becuase again, the solution was self evidant to them. They think alike becuase their minds where intelligent enough to find the unique solution that others could not see becuase of their lack of wit. But the nature of the problem and solution was that only one path and answer is present. Also in terms of what "alike" means in this situation, may not be about the likeness of solutions but in the likness of how the mind worked to get to that point, Einstein is a good example, he was the type that did his own thing, he forged ahead with his own ideas in spite of what other thought of him... he was a daydreamer and tended to use thought experiments to probe the physical worlds secrets... now I would imagine that another person that thinks in that same way could also have a great mind as well.

Great problems.

You need a great problem to be declared a great mind. It is just a matter of opportunity meeting potential.

A great mind sees a great problem, reasons it out and solves it. In that respect all great minds think alike. Their approaches may be different but their drive and determination remains a constant.

Its like saying great athletes compete alike. They do. They win.

Simply put, Genuis. Great minds think alike is not saying the have the same thoughts it means they operate under the same category of thought. All great minds will think on a superior level. They are great because they not only create new and important things but help drive the human thrist for knowledge, and because they are superior specimens. Their brain and genes are better. Hence, they should be breeded. :)

A universal proposition is one that affirms a property of all the members of a set.

The property Your affirming is "Great"

An existential proposition is one that affirms the existence of a member of a collection that possesses a specified property.
That is to say, that there may be some great minds that think alike, but not all.

A universal proposition is logically equivalent to the negation of an existential proposition.

Thus, claiming that all great minds think alike is equivalent to denying that there are great minds that don't think alike.

What makes a Great mind, is the fact that they are all free-thinkers and consider life outside of the box. They push the envelopes. Weather utilizing imagination or in search of some truth, the Great mind reaches out into the darkness and grasps knowledge where others don't even see it. Genius!

It's a way to compliment yourself. When two people agree on something, one will say "great minds think alike" - in other words, I have a great mind and so do you.

Assuming you believe in objective truth, then it simply makes sense to say that great minds arrive at the same true solution to a problem, with the same degree of accuracy, or that given part of the impetus, people having a similarly great mind to another can come to the same conclusion.

The keyword in this question is really, Do they really think alike? and if so, Who says so? Well, that's another topic. I think that
if they are great indeed, its simply because they can sit and eat
some chinese food together peacefully while sharing the little few soy sauces they give you..lol! Who cares? I'm hungry!

well, people like being part of a group or a community, so thinking alike must be something great and also, people liek to think of themselves as being great so if someone else thinks like them they are great. Afterall, thinking alike is what is "chemistry" between people, have you noticed that?
