How does salvation have anything to do with accepting Jesus as your saviour? Is it really that crucial? What is the harm of saving people who have not accepted Jesus as their saviour?

You have just mentioned to me why it absolutely necessary to accept Jesus as your saviour in order to be saved. So what about unborn babies, people who died before Jesus came, and those who live and lived in remote areas of the world with absolutely no knowledge of Jesus. Is it suddenly ok not to accept Jesus as your saviour in order to be saved?
*Please note that accepting Jesus on Judgement Day is not applicable. Cause' on JD Jesus will appear in front on them and make Himself obvious, thus not accepted Him by faith.
