I'm trying to gain some expertise and knowledge. I know a few local woodworkers in town.

I was thinking about introducting myself and letting them know Im looking to take my woodworking to the next step and want to get some experience.

If someone with some fair knowledge offered free help around the shop would you take them on? Say for like 1 day a week? Maybee have them start off with basic stuff first. Clean the shop, etc. etc., then once proven work their way up?

Even though I'm 17, I've already have 1 1/2 semesters of college under my belt, don't do drugs or alcohol, and maintain A's and B's. Overall a good kid, and 18's two weeks away, but my parent's are still smothering and controlling me. If i don't call or email at least once a week, or if I ignore/don't see/don't write back to my mom's emails, all hell breaks loose. I've tried talking to her, but every time it turns into her either getting her feelings hurt (because she feels like she's worthless now that her duty as mom is over, and gets seriously depressed) or gets angry (because she usually twists my words so that it's like I don't care about them anymore, and she flips out).

I don't know what to do...how can I talk to her to say "I'm a big boy now" without all the fireworks that's she's brought lately? I don't want to be an *** and break it to her hard and she get depressed, but I can't stand her treating me like a baby when I'm 18! PLEASE HELP!

Or mental retardation? I just used it in a reference in one of my answers referencing austism in the 90s. Do you think it's okay to use when referencing old disorders or old fashioned views of these disorders?

I know there's some people here who say people haven't used the word, retarded for a decade or two but not true in my region. I live in country bumpkin type of area where people are slow to new terminologies and new ideals to anything (to be quite blunt). It wasn't until after I started college that it was more PC to use disabled or special needs in the region.

Hi, well like 2 days ago i decided to be dumb and use some old nair on my upper lip. After like 2 minutes it started to burn but i jus t thought that was the nair working. I left it on there for 10 mins. When i took it off it looked like patches or holes were burnt into my skin. Ive been putting neosporen on it and covering it with powder foundation. How long is it going take for the burn to go away and will it leave a scar?And is there anything i can do to heal it faster?

Me and this married man were messing around/talking to each other for about 2 weeks. I have a b/f and he has a wife. Yes I know it was wrong and everything but I learned. Please just answer the question I am asking. Ok we met at the gym cuz we both play racquetball. Well we stopped talking a coule of weeks ago b/c his wife was finding out and going w/him everywhere including the gym. Tonight I was up there playing with my b/f and the other guy was also there playing his friend. One time, when my b/f walked by the court he and his friend were in, my b/f told me that that guy looked at him and kinda smiled/laughed..then I got up and walked by him and he smiled at me.Then later he walked passed me and banged his racquet right by my leg up against the bleacher thing I was sitting on and kinda looked at me and smiled and asked me if my b/f was mad cuz of him. I catch him looking at me when he is playing w/ his friends. I just want to know from a guy what all this means? I am 21 and hes 35.

So the primary election for California is on February 5th next year. That will be my 18th birthday. I was wondering when I could register to vote if I wanted to vote on that ballot. Could I register to vote before my birthday and then just vote on Feb 5th? Or do I wait until the actual day to register to vote?
