I was working for this mortgage company last year for about 6 months. I had set hours, Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm & a 1hour lunch. I was on salary, every single month I got paid the same amount. I recall asking them why I did not have a pay stub showing all my deductions, & why they were not taking any thing out of my check. They told me that this is how they paid all their employee's, (When I was hired I was hired as their employee not as an individual contractor) & that at tax time they would send me a form to do my taxes called a 1099. When I did my taxes I did not need to pay the state any money. I did not know this but apparently employers can NOT do that, they can not tell the government (edd, irs etc) that you are an individual contractor & when in reality your just a regular employee. Now when I called EDD they told me there are no wages that were reported for last year from that employer who had me on a 1099. How can I fight this & get unemployment!!!?

One of my great-uncles decided he wanted to get married after he got back from serving in WWI - preferably to a cousin - which he did. He had migrated to Australia prior to the war, and after the war went to England and married a cousin in 1919. He and his wife returned to Australia and had 2 kids.

Why did he prefer to marry a cousin over someone else? Was that acceptable back then - or was my uncle just a bit strange?

My sister and I are staying at a friends house tonight. I was hungry so I got up to get something to eat, it's the middle of the night btw I found a bowl, milk and some cornflakes but no spoon! These people have knives and forks and other various things in their drawers but no spoons! Can I eat the cornflakes with something else?

I am 14 years old, I weigh about 100 pounds, and I'm a very stocky kid. I'm pretty much all muscle because I do pushups and situps a lot. I don't use weights and don't do any of that stuff. The only thing I use to work out is my body. I heard that benching and lifting weights can stunt you growth.

So my question is: do push-ups and sit-ups have the potential to stunt a kid's growth less than lifting weights?

I feel perfectly fine and I eat properly, I don't starve myself ever or anything like that. I am a boy and I wrestle on my school team during the winter, so I like to stay fit year-round. This is why I am muscular.

Hey can you read this intro. paragraph for me and tell me if it sounds ok. I'm not sure I like the first part but I'm not so sure about the rest of it.

I have always thought there was only one type of love, which is that feeling of overwhelming liking to someone else. I am aware that lust does exist and that it is seperate from love, being that the desire for someones body rather than their mind. In Plato's Symposium, Plato speaks of many different types of love, loves that can be taken as lust as well. He writes of six different points of view on love, coming from the speakers that attend Agathon's dinner party. Although all the men have excellent arguements on their definitons of love, it is Socrates who gives the best definition of all. Socrates gets his definition from a woman named Diotamia.

I could use all the help I can get so if anyone has any ideas on how to improve this please let me know. Thanks!

I believe in a greater power. Not necessaily the Christian God or the Muslim god or Hindu gods etc. etc., just a higher power.

I started to think about it, and I was Christian but how did I know i was following the right religion? I mean, the only reason so many Americans are Christians is because they are brought up with everyone around them worshiping God and telling them God and Jesus are real. I mean ever since I was 3 in preschool the thought of worshiping and believeing in God was pounded into my head every day.

For the same reason, thats why all of China is athiest.
And almost all of India is Hindu.

If you grew up where everyone around you told you that the Ancient Egyptian gods were real , then everyone would be worshiping them too.

So I came to the conclusion that so many Americans believe in God because they are in a sense brainwashed.
I believe in a higher power but nothing more specfic than that. What religion am I?

I am getting married next August and my colours are dark chocolate brown, pistachio green, and ivory. I am wearing ivory and my bridesmaids are wearing chocolate brown while the groom and groomsmen are wearing chocolate brown suits with pistachio ties. My mum and m-i-l have asked me what colour I think they should wear. I don't mind really but I don't know if there is any rule of thumb on this. What do you think???

So, I've never liked my name. In popular culture it has an ethnic connotation that doesn't even match my background. Think "Juanita" on an Indian girl or something. Theres this guy i like, ALOT. I think about him so much. He so cute and nice. He talks to me alot, shuts my locker, teases me, pats my head. But if someone says that we like each other he says "eww no, or makes puking noise". He's like the most popular guy in our grade and im in 9th. All these girls like him, he sometimes jokes aroung with them but he never does what he does to me. Even our teacher think we flirt. Im kinda sad thou, cause all these girls that are popular like him to. they hang out and the girls are always on top of him, giving him hugs and saying stuff like "omg, why werent you at my locker" but im not like that, and i cant do that so i only talk to him in my classes and sometimes he teases me outside of class so then we talk. I dont know but i think i should get over him cause i dont think i dont have a chance with him when there are so many pretty blond girls that like him, but he wont let me forget about him, he always makes up a reason to talk to me. :(
