U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice Harlan Fiske Stone wrote, "The Jehovah's Witnesses ought to have an endowment in view of the aid which they give in solving the legal problems of civil liberties."

In the United States numerous cases involving Jehovah's Witnesses are now landmark decisions of First Amendment law. In all, Jehovah's Witnesses brought 23 separate First Amendment actions before the U.S. Supreme Court between 1938 and 1946.

The most important U.S. Supreme Court legal victory won by the Witnesses was in the case West Virginia State Board of Education vs. Barnette, in which the court ruled that school children could not be forced to pledge allegiance to or salute the U.S. flag. The Barnette decision overturned an earlier case, Minersville School District vs. Gobitis (1940), in which the court had held that Witnesses could be forced against their will to pay homage to the flag.

The fighting words doctrine was established by Chaplinsky v. New Hampshire (1942). In that case, a Jehovah's Witness had reportedly told a New Hampshire town marshal who was attempting to prevent him from preaching "You are a God-damned racketeer" and "a damned fascist" and was arrested. The court upheld the arrest, thus establishing that "insulting or 'fighting words', those that by their very utterance inflict injury or tend to incite an immediate breach of the peace" are among the "well-defined and narrowly limited classes of speech [which] the prevention and punishment of...have never been thought to raise any constitutional problem."

In a more recent case, Jehovah's Witnesses refused to get government permits to solicit door-to-door in Stratton, Ohio. In 2002, the case was heard in the U.S. Supreme Court (Watchtower Bible and Tract Society v. Village of Stratton). The Court ruled in favor of the Jehovah's Witnesses, ensuring the freedom of all to go door-to-door without obtaining permits.

I am on Direct Deposit through my workplace. Not due to any actions or inactions on my part, my check didn't get deposited and because of that I have accrued multiple NSF charges. Legally, is there anyway I could get those penalties back from my employer?

There's a video I saw where the car flips and crushes a couple that were on a wall. The girl was sitting down and her boyfriend was on his knees (I believe) on the ground, when the car flips in the air and crushes him as she is looking down at him and crushes her legs. It ends with her at the cemetary in a wheel chair.

I would really like to be able to download it but would be satisfied if I could just find it again.

My son is 9 years old, he's a really good little baseball player and has loved the game since he was able to hold a bat and catch a ball, he actually used to sleep with his bat in bed with him. I'm a single mother, and it's been up to me to train him. He's made the All Stars every year and will give 150% of himself in playing. This year his coaches are very competitive, and of course they are coaching their own kids, they play thier kids every inning and my son is made to sit the bench at least 2 innings per game, which is really making him feel as if they don't want or need him on this team. Their own kids aren't real good, and my son can pitch, catch and play just about every position on the field. Their kids have one position to play and that's their constant position. Now the coaches are very verbal in thier critism, and I of course as a mother pay very strict attention to what is being said to my son. One of the coaches I feel is so nasty he shouldn't be allowed to coach.

A student mixes these volumes of 0.020 M H2SO4, 0,030 M KI and water. Calculate the concentrations of H2SO4 and KI in each solution assuming that all drops are equal in volume, say, 1 mL.

For experiment one, 5 drops of H2SO4 are mixed w/ 7 drops KI and 48 drops of H2O.

For experiment two, 5 drops of H2SO4 are mixed with 10 drops of KI and 45 drops of water.

How do I go about solving this? Please help. Thanks.
