I had an "exchange" (not really) with a supposedly intelligent and educated (in the liberal definition) person recently that thought that the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution protected every weapon EXCEPT 'assault rifles'. Their reasoning was that since assault/military weapons were not actually MENTIONED, then "obviously" the founders of our country did not mean to refer to them, or to modern military hardware. It was an amazing "interpretation", to say the least. Thomas Jefferson (the penman) and many others did mention elsewhere during their lifetimes that the common people must have the means to defend themselves against (government) tyranny, and even had the right to overthrow a tyrannical despot. How else would this be accomplished without parity in force (weaponry) and power?

I'm leading a bible study with a girl named Amelie.

She is going to college in the US from France, and I've been introducing her to the people here at church.

She is a lot prettier than my wife, and I'd like her to start dating me. She doesn't speak English all that well, and I'm not sure if she understands what I'm trying to say.

We get to spend a lot of time together, since my Korean girlfriend is in jail in Seattle and my wife is busy with her job helping an adoption agency.

We have a "Christian" hike next week, and I'm thinking of "accidently" booking one cabin instead of two for the leaders.

What do you think? It's not fair that a person like me has to deal with this much stress all of the time. It feels like I'm always having to explain myself! I just figure it's God's test.

And those that believe it is a proven fact, you are just being mislead. A consesus isn't fact, it's just a bunch of greedy people wanting a piece of the tax's payers money.

Yes, I will finally admit that I have a li'l liberalism in me. Some issues I lean a tad to the left. Most things to the right.

Who will stand up and declare that they, too, have views from both parties?

My neighbor enrolled in a graduate level online course, and has never met the instructor. After reading his first paper, the instructor has made an assumption that he was not a native (English) speaker simply because his essay was written poorly (it had prose problems). The instructor wrote to him and said this, along with a suggestion he seek out a writing tutor.

Now I can understand suggesting a tutor, but I can not understand how a person can be labeled ESL versus native-English based on poor writing skills.

when some idea u had about life is, or maybe some long-held belief u had about urself suddenly vanishes like darkness when a light is turned on? It's a subtle shift, n then you wonder how u never noticed that u were walking around with those blinders on...

A new belief or idea isn't picked up in place of the one dropped...all picking up or putting down just vanishes...insight, and a new feeling of lightness...

I'm Jewish and I really don't know the answer to this question. Why are there so many different kinds of Christians? There are the Catholics and the Protestants. Within the Protestant faith, there are Episcopalians, Presbyterians, Baptist, Methodists, Lutherans, etc. Do they all accept Christ as their savior? Do they all believe in the Trinity? If so, why aren't they all just Protestants?
