Is there a way to vote on this?? I don't think you are being unreasonable, I don't know anyone who doesn't like little cute gifts ( except maybe plant lady) but maybe you should try to compromise, why should she get to make all the calls?? Try to let her insensitive remark go, some people can't help but be rude when they are intimidated or threatened by you!! Let her know it's not about you or her, but the nurses!! God bless!!

But does she know what the cute little gift will be? Argh! Sounds like she wants the final say. Not everybody likes plants! (Well I do! :)) No, you're no unreasonable. The least she could do was listen at your suggestion and then at least consider it!

Your not being unreasonable, it just sounds like she is a bit controlling. I would just kindly approach her and tell her that you still think the gift idea is good and why you think that way but you understand her point as well and that you are more than happy to compromise... I know this stinks but let her know that she should head up the breakfast and plant buying since its her idea (;

You can alway argue that not everyone is a green thumb and to give a living object for someone to kill would be cruel and unethical. American Express and Visa both have gift cards that can be used anywhere that takes the regular credit cards. You never know when someone may be financially strapped and could use any kind of help to pay for gas or medicine.

Get them cute gifts and let the other get them a plant. Give it to them as a package deal. Problem solved.

Why don't you get half plants and half gifts and let each nurse pick what they like. This is called compromise. Gift certificates are another thought.

I agree with you... it is good to change it up. I like the idea. Some people might like the cute little gifts and it is fun to please everyone by getting something different every year. People will appreciate the thought that went into the present even if they didn't like it.

First off, who makes the final decision? Second, how about plants that don't have to be planted outdoors? Third, how about gift cheques? Everybody likes them, no?

Never let a person's remarks anger you. You control your own emotions and therefore you control how angry or frustrated you are. Negotiate further and try to make her and the others understand where you are coming from.

Tell them you understand the gesture they are attempting to make but you simply think that it would be nice to have a variety and so giving something different this year would be different.

Remember: passively disagree, dont react!

How about you do half plants half gifts and let the nurses choose! That way everyone goes home with something that they chose.
