Im in my mid 20's. My mom is currently being spiteful as she dosn't like the guy im dating. Im not going to go into it,but there is nothing wrong with my bf, she just simply dosn't like him and i refuse to go out with guys she trys to set me up with.
Anyway, because im dating this guy (she has done this with my ex's too), She purposely won't go shopping with me, watch tv with me or do anything together.
In general my mom (despite bf situations) always puts me down, compares me to other girls, praises my brother , never me. She will even tell her friends over the phone that im an idiot and never knows whats going on. Its so depressing. Im trying my best to ignore it. I can't just sit and talk with her.I confronted about how she is treating me and that we can do things together,but she refuses. Im trying my best to accept the way she is, but its so hard.Also all of my girlfriends have nice moms who do normal things and its like this is what i got stuck with. anyone else have similiar?

I have to write a paper for a college class about my opinions on any topic affecting society. I am doing gay marriage. I believe it should be legalized. I'm married (heterosexual) and I'm having trouble with reasons other than I just think it should be legal. Would you please give me a few solid reasons? Like insurance benefits .... I live in a super small town in Southwestern Virginia, and the county I reside in is a very depressed area with nothing to do and not much job opportunity. In fact it took me years to land some recent jobs. In my town it's not only hard to get a job but it's hard to keep one. The factories and industries we have lay people off all the time. And on top of that we don't have many businesses that require good education. In fact most of our businesses are from one extreme to the other; they either don't require high school or just a GED at the very least, or 2-4+ years of college. I am going to a local community college myself to get certified in office type work. But anyway, I wanted to know if there's anyone else out there living in an area that is still depressed from our small economic depression George Bush put us in.
