The way our church is set up, everyone would have to come in from the front (outside) but I don't want to be too covered up. Most of the gowns that I like are either sleeveless or short sleeved.

John Donne's vision of humanity?

No man is an island, entire of itself
every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main
if a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were,
as well as if a manor of thy friends or of thine own were
any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind
and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls
it tolls for thee.

-- John Donne

It makes perfect sense to me.

We just purchased an LG ceramic top stove/oven and have heard a great deal of conflicting advice on what sort of pots and pans to avoid with electric stoves, partcularly the ceramic top types. The pans we would like to use are a large cast iron Le Creuset pot and one of those long (18x30) rectangular griddle pans from Williams Sonoma, often used for pancakes and other flat surface cooking, that would cover two burners on a normal sized stove. Would it be problematic if I used these pans? Unfortunately, gas is not a viable option so suggesting that I get gas is not helpful. Also, there is not bridge between the elements on this cook top.

Recently, I have become the guy with the "bad attitude" because I am unwilling to work any overtime (which is not mandatory). Not even a year ago, I had been working 60 hour weeks for a few months straight. The only gain I received was in the paycheck. Being a "team player" only seemed to help the company and did not improve any chance for promotion, etc. I am less worried about the extra money on my paycheck as I am about moving ahead in my job. I am still meeting expectations, just not going beyond. Obviously, this will not help any advancement opportunity either. Here is the question: Will bringing this reason up for not wanting to go above and beyond actually increase my chances or will they overlook that and possibly take disciplinary action for attitude? This is a non-union hourly wage position. I am more than willing to work the overtime and put forth more effort, if I can be guaranteed a better reward (besides recognition for hours worked). Will this philosphy work?

that some tv stations show a good film or drama, then break for the news. You then have to wait half an hour listening to it, although its been on all day, before they show the rest of the film. Sometimes you wait, then there is only half hour left of the film to watch. Tv is digital now, we have 24hr news stations, so why do they continue to break for the news. Who wants to listen to bad news all day everyday any way. Not me, thats for sure. We ought to write to the tv stations concerned and complain. Maybe if we all did this, they would begin to take notice.

My parents were on a recent trip and viewed something uncomprehendable. As they rounded a curve ready to crass a small bridge. They drove into what they explained as the most beautiful of things. A rainbow. The rainbow could be seen from both sides of the bridge. Both the start and finish. They said the colors were so vibrant that they thought they were actually being abducted by aliens. They said the top of the rainbow was a few feet above the car, and that they were completely surrounded by this color. As they drove through it in the distance was another much less vibrant one . I didn't give it much thought at the time, but within the past 2 months, both parents have been diagnosed with cancer. I am a spiritual individual, and wonder if this occurence has any meaning to what is happening in their lives. Any comments would be appreciated.

Repeal and replace the 14th Amendment. Section 1 of the 14th has three consecutive clauses that are vague and have been misused and abused by the Courts so much that it makes me want to stay away from the ballot box for the rest of my life.

Constitutional law ought to constitute a set of rules so that government (the level of government being commanded) can know what it can or cannot do. Constitutional law ought to "provide guidance and discipline for the legislature, which is entitled to know what kind of laws it may pass," and it ought to "mark the limit of [the Court's] authority." (From Romer v. Evans, 1996; morally correct rhetoric but completely hypocritical in reality.)

Declare that the 14th is repealed (we obviously don't need the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th sections of it any more) and is replaced with more clearly stated rules for the states to obey.

To be continued.
