that some tv stations show a good film or drama, then break for the news. You then have to wait half an hour listening to it, although its been on all day, before they show the rest of the film. Sometimes you wait, then there is only half hour left of the film to watch. Tv is digital now, we have 24hr news stations, so why do they continue to break for the news. Who wants to listen to bad news all day everyday any way. Not me, thats for sure. We ought to write to the tv stations concerned and complain. Maybe if we all did this, they would begin to take notice.

Why can't they put the news on AFTER the film.
They've got no problem with late news when there's a football game on.

yeah i find that annoying too. besides unless something like a terrorist attack or some major incident took place at the same time the film is shown, then i don't see the need for the news to be televised in the middle of a film. i mean, its annoying enough as it is for us having to sit through loads of adverts, but its just as annoying as having the news just as when we're about to see a movie. if news has to be shown then why cannot it they do it when the film or tv show is finished? at least out of all the main stations, channel 4 is the only channel that doesn't do this to us but that's because the only times they broadcast the news is at 12.00pm lunchtime and 7.00pm in the evening. with bbc1 and itv1 the news in the evening ranges from 10.00 to 10.30pm

Yeah it really really annoys me, and as I live right on the sea front here in Weymouth in a listed building I am not allowed to put up a sky dish (council wont let me) and we do not have free view in Weymouth until sometime in 2007, therefore my only option is terrestrial and it bugs the hell out of me when they break a good film for news that has been on all day...so yes I with you on this one

Yes, completely. We cannot afford Sky movies but definately preferred movies without breaks for the news, it makes for a late night especially if the film doesn't start until 9pm.

Channel 5 promised uninterupted films on its launch, with no ads or news, needless to say the advertising revenue made it crumble, anow BBC interupt for the news too.
Its all a sham & the films arn't really worth watching anyway and if they are you have seen them already at the Cinema or on DVD etc.

The ITC (Independent Television Commission) stipulates that there must be news at 10 o'clock (not sure about the other channels) ITV did try to change it a few years ago (see link)

I think it wouldn't bother me so much if it was something that warrented breaking in for.
It's usually something that could have waited. They do it for the ratings.....but for me it has the opposite effect.
