Why do some people who say the bible is the direct word of God not follow what it means? In the bible, women are property, daughters are slaves, statutory rape (i.e. a 30 year old marrying a 12 year, just for sake of argument-which is against the law in our society, but the bible has nothing to say on it) is allowed, and supposedly-I cannot remember the exact verse at this time-if you have faulty sight you cannot go before the alter of God. Women are to cover their heads before praying (very few religions follow this practice), shellfish is forbidden, and in certain cases abortions were okay. Adulterers were stoned (now you're lucky if you can take a cheating spouse to court and win) and bad children as well (now you see them on the Maury show).
So why is it okay to follow certain in the bible, and completely disregard others? Some people will say "the OT doesn't count anymore" but will condemn you with rules from it still. Opinions, please?

I must admit that I was shocked to see the following words attributed to actor-rapper Will Smith, responding to a question of whether 9-11 had changed anything for him:

No. Absolutely not. When you grow up black in America you have a completely different view of the world than white Americans. We blacks live with a constant feeling of unease. And whether you are wounded in an attack by a racist cop or in a terrorist attack, I'm sorry, it makes no difference.

You cannot get much more hypocritical than that. Smith's evident contempt for America is baffling. He is apparently thankless for the opportunities America has given him to be free, work hard and succeed. Rather than feel for his country when it is viciously attacked, he seems unaffected and indifferent to the pain so many felt.

This is probably going to sound retarded, but I've done a little calculating and if I'm right I got pregnant on my husbands birthday, he's not big on celebrating it since he turned 30 this year (not a big deal right!) so I don't know if he'd be happy or not. He's over the moon about the baby (even though he thinks it's twins!) and already driving me nuts with the "How are you feeling?" questions, but do you think he'd like to know that?

Do you think they're dumb themselves? Or are they really nice and trying to help you? They rarely answer the question and just point out typos, so I think they don't know the answer to the question and point out mistakes. Just my opinion though.

Hi i have done Masters in Computers 2 and half yrs ago
since then i m working as a Web Designer

Now as i from Technical Background(thought lost the touch), what i need help in is to decide that should i pursue SAP or not.How difficult will it be for me. I have to leave my current Job to pursue it. And lot of investment is also involved.

Will it be possible for a guy like me who has not programmed since 2nd half yrs. The course is-

I've only done the home page, but I'll start working on the rest after I figure out how I want to do the layout.

The client wants it simple. But to me, it's too plain. What can I do to bring it to life???

I'm the programmer, not the designer. My designer is a photographer and he's out doing weddings for the next 3 weeks.

I just need some ideas. She doesn't want all the animations and flash, but there must be something we can do!

From what I've read, there seems to be some contriversy as to whether or not the Oort Cloud is actually out there. I guess it would make sense that something like that could exist (afterall comets have to come from somewhere) but shouldn't we at least be able to detect it somehow? I know that (if it exists) it would be very far away from Earth and would be very very faint, given the fact that it would just be a loose band of comet-like objects. But still, with all the powerful telescopes and infrared devices we have at our disposal, why haven't we been able to authenticate it's existance?
