It never fails. Every time I go to the Filipino chat room, we'll have a nice conversation, then, towards the end, they ask you if you can send them some money. I know that the Philippines is a poor country and that the poverty level is very high (I have been there and seen it for myself), but does that make it ok for them to ask you to send them money. I've had some women not even beat around the bush. The first thing they want to know is if I have a job. The second thing they ask is if we have Western Union for money transfers. Is there a culture in the Philippines that makes these young women feel that it's OK to ask Americans for money? I don't mind contributing to a charity that would help the needy in the Philippines, but I am really turned off by individuals whom I don't even know asking for money.
