My bf of 4 years refuses to buy me jewelery. It kinda irked me but i let it go because i figured if he wanted to buy me jewelery he would do it because he really wanted to. Last weekend i found out the real reason behind it. He bought his ex a piece of jewelery worth $250. they were dating for 4 months and they split two months later; becuase of that he refuses to buy any girlfriend jewerly unless it's an it's an engagement ring (he even bitches about that).

Am i just being to materialistic ? it wasn't a big deal until i found out the real reason behind it.

I am married and my wife prefers to stay at the house and only eat at the same restaurants. I always want to do things, but she says we have too much to do. I have a friend at work that I have recently became closer with. She is married too. She likes to go to the same restaurants as me and try new places. My friend and I both work in the evenings a lot, so our days are free. My wife is always telling me to do stuff with my friends. I want to tell/ask her that I want to go to lunch with my friend, but I am not sure how she will take it. I know she eats dinner with people from her work, when I am at work, but I know she will say that its different. When I have asked her how in the past she would say "I know what I am going to do..." Also, I don't think I should have to ask her permision. What should I do?
