Yes some do. If you get a good one, you can select the types of alerts and warnings that it will report and for which counties.
The county feature is really worthwhile if you live in tornado alley because there are alerts and warnings issued for each county as the storms move and you DON'T want to hear them all! You can set it for the your county and the ones that adjoin it on the south and southwest (since that's the direction storms generally approach from).
You can set it for Storm watches, storm warnings, flood watches, flood warnings, tornado watches, tornado warnings, avalanche warnings, tsunami warnings, etc. Just pick the ones you need depending on where you live.
The radio I have puts out an alarm which will definitely wake you -- which is the whole reason to have it! The volume is adjustable.

Yes indeed. And you can program them so that they switch onto an emergency broadcast station which plays the weather bulletins so you know why it's going off. This can get to be reeeeal old though if you live in tornado alley or a coastal area. (Like me, waitin' for Ernesto here.)
But much better safe than sorry. And at least with a weather alert radio, you can fall asleep to begin with, instead of lying awake afraid a tornado might touch down. (We get lots of tornado watches and warnings too.)

Yes they are great things to have especially if you live in Texas or Florida or places where Tornado's and bad storms happen very often, when they go off sounds like a fire truck coming through your house!

Most of the models would...One equipped with SAME technology would be best to minimize false alarms and maximize your sleep at night. This is key if you live in the Southeast US.
