Newbie to guns and planning a 3 month wilderness trip up into and deep into the ALASKA Yukon. Trip is planned for next summer. That gives me lots of time to practice and understand the gun I purchase. I want something that is inexpensive, has good stopping power, enough to take down a grizzly. Ammo must be cheap. Easy on the recoil.

Also, if you could comment on a shotgun / rifle. An all in one. Would this be a better road to go down with my purchase?

According to this article in the Journal of Religion and Society, the most religious of the western countries seem to have the highest rates of murder (see Figure 2 half way down if you don't want to read it all) plus std's, teen pregnancy, abortion etc.

In addition, although it's not nice to say it, many western countries who have accepted a large muslim community, seem to be suffering from an epidemic of rape, by a small minority of 'muslim' men against non-muslim women and girls

Do you agree with the conclusions of the articles, that religion creates an 'us and them' mentality within society, whereby people who do not adhere to the values of another person, are considered less-human and 'fair game' by many people?

Or is there another explanation?

No offensive answers PLEASE, we are all human

I'd been going out with someone from my group of friends. We split up (fairly amicably) and I started seeing someone else - not a mutual friend. Since then, I've been ostracised from the group, with some of them explaining it is too awkward for me to be invited to things, even without my new partner, which I have found hurtful. A year on, when I have made new friends, they are starting to contact me again and I'm not sure how I feel about it.

Is it petty to want nothing more to do with them, after I feel I was treated so harshly and they've made it clear my new partner is still not welcome? Or am I being over-sensitive?
