Patriotism is good when a people are truly threatened by external forces, it can be abused. Humanity is preferred when there are little or no threats. It too can be taken too far.

Humanity has more priority. Because sometimes a lot of tragedy are caused from patriotism.

I think we need both .. to be Humane and also Patriotic.

In fact, the meanings of these words fall in different categories ... humanity means human race and being humane where as patriotism means love of one's country or nationalism.
I think we need both in any situation. You have to generalise the situation if any dilemma arise. Else, both on top priority.

Both are important but humanity stands first. Humanity saves life, While patriotism saved the country.

If someone is fighting as a soldier in a war , don't expect him or her to be concerned with Humanity . Otherwise Humanity should be considered over Patriotism , otherwise Patriotism in some cases can become Jingoism or Chauvinism.

Let's look at this in the order in which you inherited both. You were first born a human...and then did the question of your nationality come up, isn't it?

Actions should be governed accordingly. When the latter takes precedence over the former, we have acts like ethinic cleansing taking place.
