"Israeli law grants authority over all matters of marriage of Jews in Israel to the Orthodox Rabbinate. The law does not provide for civil marriage and non-Orthodox Rabbis are not allowed to perform marriages. [...]
The current situation results in severe limitations on the right to marry and found a family. Citizens without a religion make up a large number of those affected. It is estimated that out of the 800,000 new immigrants from the Former Soviet Union that have come to Israel since 1989, approximately 30% are not Jewish by Orthodox standards (according to Chief Rabbinate and Interior Ministry sources). In addition, the Chief Rabbinate does not recognize as Jews those who converted abroad in non-Orthodox conversions and will not marry them. Interfaith couples also cannot marry in Israel, even if one partner has no religion."

Okay, '95 Ford Explored, Eddie Bauer edition, little over 100thousand miles on it- only just beginning to have occasional trouble. Today, it won't start- we jumped it, and it took us to town and back- as soon as it was shut off, it won't start again. We thought it couldn't be the alternator since the battery didn't die on the way, is it most likely the battery?

Also- the transmission has recently developed a problem.
It will not shift out of first on it's own, you have to let off the gas, wait for the tach to drop below the 2, and then press the gas again, and it shifts. Every other gear it does fine, just has difficulty leaving 1st. Any thoughts?

I had a baby on 8-4 and my Doctor says I have to wait 6 weeks to use our swimming pool. That's the rest of the summer! I'm wondering if anyone did it sooner without any ill effects. I think he's being overly cautious.

Someone close to me recently had 2 spend a night in jail cause nobody could afford the high bail (at that time, was reduced the next day). I accepted a few collect calls (on my cell) from them but every time it disconnected & I got a recording saying that it was cause I didn't have an account w/ this one company. NOW I am constantly getting calls from an 800 # but it hangs up before I can answer. I am told it's an automated thing trying to get me to sign up for an account. I'm not going to cause I highly doubt this person is going to do anything to go back to jail (scared them too much). I have Sprint & other users I know have told me that you can't block individual numbers on a cell phone but I swear there's gotta be a way. Does anyone know how I go about getting that number blocked so that they'll stop calling me? I don't want to change my # cause there are waaay too many people I would have to contact again. Don't answer with "I don't know" either...legit answers needed PLEASE!
