Unless the doctor tells the woman otherwise, she SHOULD wait at least SIX WEEKS. The body needs time to heal and rest before getting back into the swing of things. Also there is a high potential for introducing bacteria into the uterine cavity, creating infections and more misery for the new mother (this is also why tampons are forbidden after birth till the 6th week mark).
Also, the probability of getting pregnant right away (YES it can happen) after having a baby is huge and if the body's not healed, the chances of miscarriage are quite high. If you/she doesn't want 2 kids in a single year, I strongly recommend that birth control is used.
Ultimately it is up to the mother how long she waits till she has sex again. SHE is the one that just had a baby and it is HER body. If it hurts her, are you going to force the issue? Let her decide ... with the guidance of her doctor.

About six weeks as long as she feels ready for it. But trust me having a new born baby waking through the night sex is probably the last thing on her mind. So my wife says lol but don't pressure her into it having a sex. having a child is a drain on her health and mental well being just support her and don't make her feel like she has to bec u are horney. won't do your realtionship any good learn to make friends with pam.

Its recommended six weeks, but I think most women wait a lot longer than that. It all depends how you are feeling physically and emotionally. If you are completely tired and haven't completely healed the last thing on a woman's mind is sex. The best thing to do is not assume anything and ask her.

congrats if u have had ur babe....
best of luck if u r awaiting the birth.
you can make love as soon as u r comfortable...
if u had suturing , a tear that was bad , u may not feel like intamacy right now...but if all was fine and making love is now a thought you cannot get from your mind , then talk with your partner as they might not be ready...men are affected too by observing the birth and need time to adjust to the new role of father as well as hubby , and now sole provider...
i sincerely hope you have lots of fun when the time is right.
but remember....go tenderly , gentle love making is the order of the day till you have healed correctly...
most people will advise to abstain till ur 6 week check..
good luck..

The mother's doctor usually clears her for sex 6 weeks after giving birth, provided there are no complications.

the doctors say 6-8 weeks but i did after 4 because i felt better! it is best to wait until your six week check up with the doc but if the stitches have healed and youre not in pain go for it of course if you experience pain or bleeding afterwards make sure you contact your doc good luck
