tachymeter
A tachymeter is used as the name of a scale sometimes inscribed around the rim of an analog watch. It can be used to compute speed based on travel time.

First you must have a known distance. The tachymeter is one part of the speed, distance, time equation. If you have a known distance the watch will time the travel and provide you the speed. i.e. 5280 feet in one minute would read 60 MPH on tachymeter.
