Someone close to me recently had 2 spend a night in jail cause nobody could afford the high bail (at that time, was reduced the next day). I accepted a few collect calls (on my cell) from them but every time it disconnected & I got a recording saying that it was cause I didn't have an account w/ this one company. NOW I am constantly getting calls from an 800 # but it hangs up before I can answer. I am told it's an automated thing trying to get me to sign up for an account. I'm not going to cause I highly doubt this person is going to do anything to go back to jail (scared them too much). I have Sprint & other users I know have told me that you can't block individual numbers on a cell phone but I swear there's gotta be a way. Does anyone know how I go about getting that number blocked so that they'll stop calling me? I don't want to change my # cause there are waaay too many people I would have to contact again. Don't answer with "I don't know" either...legit answers needed PLEASE!

Another reason I don't want to change my #: I have friends who have to call me due to their schedules & I don't have a number for them, some do NOT answer calls when they don't know the number AND there are other friends who do not have cell phones & have bad memories & JUST NOW were able to memorize my # :-(

Have you tried calling the number back and asking to be taken off the call list? The law states after you request to be removed they have to do it. If this persists contact your local BBB. Better Business Bureau.

Usually its the telecoms company that could provide that service but you could try asking the company which manufactures your brand of cellphone if they can provide a software or program it into your cellphone to automatically block certain numbers.
