I am hearing-impaired. I worked for the same company for a little over 6 years with good standing. In order for any employee to get promoted, he or she had to apply for a position, so I went ahead and apply for it. Got the job and I loved it. Then one month after I got hired, I was given two choices: termination from the company or take the lower position at a different department. Reason? I wasn't "proactive" enough. So I took a position and hated it. They did not cut my pay at all - just leave the way it was. I went from assistant financial management to a file clerk. I stayed as a file clerk for 5 months and left. Do you think it's unfair for them to treat me that way because I couldn't communicate with other upper management people enough?

It has been said that because we teach children in schools that the universe is a result of an accident that they are not accountable for their actions that they end up doing bad things. For example columbine. So my question is, is it because of evolution being taught that those kids became bad kids?

Did kids ever become bad kids before Charles Darwin was alive?

Is it only in a post evolution age that people are sinners?

Sometimes i get jealous and wonder what it must be like to have everything your way? It seems the liberals are losing on all fronts and the world is crumbling. Does this make conservatives happy to be winning the war of ideas? . Do they enjoy breathing bad air and paying to much for gasoline and having the public schools so poor and so forth. does it really make them happy that so many people have no health insurance? i hope it does because if not then i guess nobody is happy these days. They have had many years of unobstructed power to do good but have done nothing but line their pockets and blow money on war. i hope it makes them happy. Hey the icebergs are melting, the hurricanes are getting worse, the world hates us YEAAAA.

I know I'm going to get a lot of angry replies for this one, but making Spanish a second language makes perfect sense to me. Think about this for a second: when you go to some other country (anywhere in Europe, Asia, etc.), everyone under the age of eighty speaks perfect English. It is polite to try and learn a few phrases, but you are not expected to speak their language fluently (in fact, in Japan, they refuse to believe that anyone not born there can speak their language...this got them in trouble in WWII, but we won't go there). So why don't we do the same thing? Now, I'm not suggesting that people who immigrate here from a Spanish-speaking country shouldn't learn passable English--on the contrary, they should make sure they can speak it fairly well before they arrive--but I just think it wouldn't hurt to be a little more cosmopolitan when it comes to languages. It's not going to threaten English in any way; it would still be the first language. So why is it such a touchy issue?

I rose from poverty to a position of power, influence, & wealth....then I retired &
the phone stopped ringing.....I then started several successful businesses,
retired again, & the phone stopped ringing.....During this time I served on the
Boards of several corporations, non-profits, & a college, in key positons....
each time I retired from any of those activities....despite the plaques, praise
or recognition, the phone stopped ringing.

I want to write a book about these experiences, particularly the feelings I
had/have & what I did/am doing about them.

Has such a book already been written. If so, how can I get them. If not,
do my experiences interest anybody?
