I will be flying to San Diego in August for a 10-month stay as an exchange student.

Let me explain my situation a bit. I will be going to San Diego State University and am in the middle of applying for on campus accommodations. I can't drive so I'll either travel using the local trolley and buses. I'm also thinking of ride a bike.

I've never been to the US and I don't know what to expect in terms of anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated, even if your advice includes which side of the road I should be walking on. Actually the smallest things might be the most helpful. Hope you get my point.

I would like some pictures of the area as well as know how far it is from Las Vegas and what road would I take to get there. How is the High Schools and Jr. High. I made reservations at the Sophia Hotel near downtown San Diego, CA - good prices, location, and from their website and reviews seems nice. Just spoke to a friend who works just blocks from there and they said the hotel was recently renovated, but there were prostitues and drug dealings right in front. Any one stay here before, or know of a better place to stay?

I might be moving to san diego by next year, and I just need to know whats to do for fun over there. I will be coming from Los Angeles. And A biggy, is the rent cheap?
