Where is a nice not so crowded place to stay in mid-October. Must have a beach and great ocean view from room. Will stay in a bed and breakfast or hotel or resort. I would like to stay in one of the keys besides key west unless there is a good deal there.

I have NEVER camped before. What equipment would I need ? What are the safety precautions ? How to avoid bears ? :) how to cook ? what stuff do I need to take ? Any specific advice to a first time camper ?? Any info will be appreciated !

ok this is not a question. this is for everyone that is answering questions about alaska that knows nothing about it. it is not that cold up there,only in the winter, and it still isn't that cold. 65 degree weather is shorts and tee shirt weather. we are not living in igloos and walking around in parkas.

I like severe thunderstorms, snow, the cold, and some sort of attractive scenary like either a beach, heavily wooded, or mountains, something other than flat land in every direction.
I hate heat, lots of humidity, bible thumping conservatives (the fiscal conservatives I can stand),
I would like to be near a city with a commercial airport since I like to travel alot. I am getting a teaching degree so where ever there is a city I am almost certain to find a job, but my wife is an interior designer and will need a larger city within an hours drive to work in.

My husband has gone to work for a company that will be transferring him to another state.

The choices are Virginia, NC (where we live now), SC, GA and Florida.

Of these states, which is better, (excluding NC of course) and tell me about the crime rate, schools, etc. What town you have lived. Any info. you want to give.

One person is driving from Montandon, PA (In Northumberland County, about 30 - 45 mins away from Williamsport), and another person is driving from Waynesville, NC. What would be a good place for them to have equal driving time to meet in the middle? Someplace that at least has things to do....places to eat, movie theatres....etc.
