Much of sarcasm is fresh humor and rarely gets dry. And with the attention spans most americans have they need something quick and funny. I use sarcasm a lot but that really is my personality. I know many people who are extremely slow so sarcasm doesn't always work, but it usually is really funny.

Well, simply because sarcasm is funny. And in my experience British humor uses far more sarcasm. Very dry humor. I love it.

I am not sure but we are such a diverse country that making fun of each other helps us make sense of each other. I think it works.
