My husband has gone to work for a company that will be transferring him to another state.

The choices are Virginia, NC (where we live now), SC, GA and Florida.

Of these states, which is better, (excluding NC of course) and tell me about the crime rate, schools, etc. What town you have lived. Any info. you want to give.

Thanks

You know, Virginia is just a few hours away from the beach, the beautiful moutains and within an hour of almost any coutry drive you want to take.

Depending on where you live, averages change of course. If you're near the northen part of the state, then hop on a metro rail subway and hit DC for the free museums, the national Auarium, or the National Zoo, the Washington Monument. We've been here 20 years and still haven't seen it all.

The most populated areas of course are Northern Va and the Tidewater area (Newport News/Va. Beach/Chesapeake) but don't confuse that it's so crowded there's only elbow room. Most Virgininan travel about 45 minutes or so to work-usually in bedroom communities, from their job.

Virginia highest crime rate is in the Tidewater area but only because it's the most populated, still though, crime isn't that bad in the state, you can research crime stats by hitting Google.

I'm two hours from DC and make a trip up there once every other month, for my kids, you know, a different museum, Zoo, etc. We also have Kings Dominion and Bush Gardens, Williamsburg and so much more, but again, everything is just a few short hours away in Virginia.

I would also sugggest calling each state and get a state travel package, (1.800.VISITVA, for example and study their information)

If you'd like, you can email with the projected area in VA that you're looking at and I can get more specifics for you (no charge!)

Good luck to you and your family.

I would exclude Virginia because of the traffic and population density. I would excllude GA and Fl because of the heat and bugs, plus the masses of people. So that leaves SC. That's a short move and you can visit back in NC real easily.

I have lived in 4 of those states. For the weather I liked NC best... I was located about 45 miutes north of Charlotte. Anything much farther north got too much snow for my taste.... anything lower than ATL is too hot (and humid - unless you are on the coast).
