We're planning on going to Biloxi for Labor Day weekend, but I'm having second thoughts because there doesn't seem to be much to do there besides gambling and I don't like the whole Casino atmosphere anyway. Are there good clubs, sites to see, outdoor things to do, a nearby beach perhaps? Anything major? Also, how is the city now after Hurricane Katrina?

Would you help me plan a break from work and routine? I want to take an extended weekend (mini vacation) - friday through monday. Must be within mainland US, between mid-august and mid-october. I'll drive if within the circle of Mobile, Alabama/Jackson, Mississippi/Dallas, Texas/Houston, Texas. If beyond that circle, I'll fly. Make it interesting and/or fun and not expensive. We are thinking of leaving Europe to move to the USA, We have narrowed it down to Alabama, Georgia, or South Carolina, can anyone recommend any towns we should look at, we live in a small town in the mountains in Spain (2000 people max)at the moment and would like to find somewhere approx the same size with a good sense of community etc, although close enough to drive to a job (my husband works in hospitality management, hotel/bar/restaurants etc) Any suggestions would be great, along with any links to websites or pictures you think might help us decide,
