This summer my girlfriend and I want to go to North America. It comes down to either the USA or Canada. Don't really want to do both.

We're trying to weigh the pros and cons: The USA gets all the attention in the world and has more glitz and glamour than anywhere else on Earth, but it also seems sort of tacky. Also, American travellers I've met in the UK haven't exactly been the best ambassadors for their country, if you know what I mean. However, I've also heard that Americans are more appealing in their own country.

As for Canada, people always say Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver are great cities with lots of attractions and the countryside is legendary. It also has a 'Britishness' about it (pubs, the food, etc). Canadians I've met have always been fun, laid-back people who appreciate a 'drinking culture.' On the downside, Canada is also much more expensive than the U.S. and the French region of Quebec isn't always warm to English-speakers, I've heard.

Any thoughts?

A large convoy of mini-buses travelled from Limerick to Croke Park for the rugby match last weekend. When starting out from Limerick, all of the coaches carried exactly the same number of passengers. However, on the way to Dublin, 10 coaches broke down, and in order to accomodate all of the passengers from these 10 coaches, each of the remaining coaches took exactly one extra passenger. After the match, before returning back to Limerick, the organisers found that a further 15 coaches had broken down. However, everyone was once again accommodated, and, on the way back to Limerick, each mini-bus had exactly three more passengers than it had when leaving Limerick in the morning.

Next year, I am going to Greece over Spring Break. What do you think is the better idea?
(1) Take a bunch of Euros with me, not use an ATM
(2) Take a few Euros, carry an ATM card/debit card
(3) Use traveler's cheques
(4) Just use credit/debit card

Please explain. Thanks!

If you're over 16 and not yet got a 10 year adult passport, then you should apply for one BEFORE APRIL 2007.

On March 26 2006, the Identity and Passport Service opens some new offices as part of the build up to the ID card scheme that the Government wants to introduce. By the end of the year there will be 69 of these interrogation centres. People applying for their 1st adult passport from April 2007 will the guinea-pigs for a process the government is calling "Authentication by Interview".

You'll be called in to your nearest interrogation centre, fingerprinted + photographed and put through an "intrusive interview" (the Government's own words) to check that you can give answers about private details of your life that agree with the official ones.

The Government estimates that 1 in 4 people who apply under this new procedure will have to cancel their trip because they don't get their passport in time.

Maybe you should think about getting your passport now?

What I think is - since seashores, vast lakes, rivers and creeks are amply available everywhere, the governments / companies need not do big investments for building airports, runways, parking lots etc., specially in poor and developing coutries. Experts please answer.

I have 22 piercings in total, most of which have titanium jewelry in, and I am flying to Paris in a couple of weeks. I don't want to have to take the jewelry out, as this will take quite some time, and some of them are prone to healing over quickly. Some of them are placed in rather intimate places, and it would be embarrasing if I have to be searched.

I rarely take pictures ever, yet I see people filming their whole vacation. I just dont get it, you go to somewhere to film it so you can watch it at home?
does that make sense to you?
I like "real pictures".
