Try Costa Blanca Spain. Cheap flights from all London airports, Ryan Air, Easyjet etc. It's a short flight, 2+ hours, enough English people who live there to make any language problem easier, lovely weather & coastline, great tapas if you want the real flavour of Spain. Give it a got, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

The cheapest would be to find some el cheapo flights to Spain either as a last minute package or special, or buy the airfares and accomodation seperately.

Ryan Air or a whole host of discount airlines would be your first stop. Second stop would be cheaper than hotels - Spain. Then, make sure you have enough money to get a taxi [ or maybe the transfer from the airport is included ].

One thing though - it's important. You have a 2 year old and you don't want things going wrong. Go to a few local travel agents, get them to do it all, and make sure they don't charge you more than the bits on the websites below that i suggest:

I go with the Bulgaria suggestion, although Malta is also a good one.

The Sunny Beach resort area in Bulgaria is quite crowded and could be a bit too noisy for your little one, but the Elenite area to the north is lovely. People are friendly and most places are all-inclusive so once you have paid for your holiday then you wont have to pay for anything else. Don't expect to see a whole lot of Bulgaria though - its not a great cultural holiday.

Malta is a bit less resort restricting as you can get around the island quite easily and see the sights. Again a lot of hotels are all-inclusive, but things are quite cheap anyway. You might be tempted to spend a bit more money in Malta, as you can go on more excursions. The Blue Lagoon is probably worth it though.

Or go for Cornwall or Jersey - not too far away, your hard earned cash stays within our economy and the weather will probably be pretty good.

Costa del sol
Costa Blanca (my favourite)
Majorca
Mencora (quiet)

These tend to be the cheapest places to go too.

Check out www.teletextholidays.co.uk

You could get a last minute booking nearear the time.

If you wanna use a Travel Agent use co-op travel care they are independent don't rip you off and are very good and should price match the web.

If your flying out of London go for Gatwick or Luton.

If your on a tight budget do you want to go full board half board or self catering?

If you find any hotels or appartments check out www.holidaytruths.co.uk they have alot of independent reviews on resorts and accommondation.

Hope this helps.

Camping in Scotland. Why go abroad? Britain has some of the best scenery, countryside, historical sites etc in the world. In the current climate why add to global warming by flying & why prop up another economy with your money? Spend in the UK. Other options - Sailing in Norfolk Caravan & Beach holiday on the Jurrasic coast in Dorset.

The Spanish Med islands - Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca.
Eastern places such as Romania, Bulgaria, also Croatia etc.
Tunisia is a good deal, usually, and it's a lovely place to visit if you want something different.

Yes, Spain is pretty cheap even in summer and you can get cheap tickets with Ryanair when flying to Gerona (Also known as Girona). All around Costa Brava there are nice beaches and cheap and good hotels.

I saw on the travel channel that the U.S. dollar goes pretty far in the Czech Republic. I'd like to go there myself someday. Not sure how that would measure up to the Euro or the Pound though.

Why not stay home ET? There's loads of cheap resorts in the UK which are great for kids and contrary to popular opinion we do get the sun in summer here.
