I have 22 piercings in total, most of which have titanium jewelry in, and I am flying to Paris in a couple of weeks. I don't want to have to take the jewelry out, as this will take quite some time, and some of them are prone to healing over quickly. Some of them are placed in rather intimate places, and it would be embarrasing if I have to be searched.

Good question, i can tell you that, i have a piercing in a private place and i have had to go through a metal detector, it didn't go off, but having said that, i only have 3 pieces of jewellery on my body, only one is titanium the others are gold and it didnt go off, but with the amount you have i wouldn't like to say!

As for if you had to take them out, i don't think they would heal that quick, i had my eyebrow done 6 years ago now, i took it out because i no longer liked it , that was 5 years ago, and i can still get a ring or bar in it now!

I've heard tales of people getting stopped by airport security because of piercings but never actually met anyone who has. (Think about under-wire bras...imagine if they had to strip search every woman wearing one.) I have managed to get through the detectors with my piercings without any problems. Just try to get to the airport a bit early so that you don't miss your flight if there is a problem. Another option would be to change out the metal for acrylics during your trip.

I have a few piercings and they dont set the detector off - my high heels are most likely to do that, so my tip to you would be to wear trainers and no belt when you go through to save having t explain when they run the hand held thingy over you!

Titanium shouldn't. I've made it through many times with the 4 that I wouldn't want to take out. You should be fine.
Enjoy your trip!

Well i've got loads in my ear,my nose done, eyebrow and nipple and it didn't set them off-i think the titanium used in piercing doesn't set them off,try phoning the airport or email them and ask-that's your best bet!

Clitoral or labial piercings are almost guaranteed to set off detectors.

my only suggestion to you, aside from simply calling the airport and asking them, is to buy plastic spacers for the "sensitive areas"... though that could get expensive, it would ensure those (at least) not setting off the detector... good luck, i hope that helped. :)

I think all metal sets the detectors off.

The only point of having piercings is for other people to look at them.If you didn't want anybody to see them you wouldn't have gotten them.Show them to the Homeland Security people proudly!

yes if you have enough of them, and if customs say take them out, that is the rule and that is what you have to do. Chances are just the largest ones will need to come out
