Me and my partner are travelling to South America next year. We will be visiting Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina. What vaccinations do we have to have? Any Idea of cost (we live in New Zealand)? And I hear that some vaccinations must be had months in advance, if so how long?

If so, do you need a visa, or just a passport? Can you fly or take a ferry, and how long for each? What is Russia like? How developed is it for tourism? Would it be safe for a solo female traveler? Any other information I'd be grateful for.

Cheers, K

How safe am I doing any of these? What mode of travel is the safest? I am looking for actual statistics with references to where the statistics are from. Im trying to convince my friend to go on vacation, and they refuse to go on a cruise or fly across the ocean!

If you were to have a month to travel, would you try to see as much as you could, or really get acquainted with one or two places? I'm planning on spending a month overseas and I'm trying to decide whether I want to go on a trip to Egypt/Greece/Italy/France/Switzerland/England, or if I want to go to one specific place and get to know the people and culture there.

I live about an hour from San Francisco, one of the world's great cities. However, my small town has only 7,000 people, is surrounded by vineyards/wineries and apple orchards, and was built in the North Coastal range of mountains where the great redwood trees begin growing so thickly. It's beautiful, as the many tourists who come to stay for a week or two every year can attest.

The best part thing about where i live is that, because i have lived here for so long, because my town is small, i know many people. It's home--and home is a feeling, not just a place.

How about you and your home? What's the best thing about it?
