I live about an hour from San Francisco, one of the world's great cities. However, my small town has only 7,000 people, is surrounded by vineyards/wineries and apple orchards, and was built in the North Coastal range of mountains where the great redwood trees begin growing so thickly. It's beautiful, as the many tourists who come to stay for a week or two every year can attest.
The best part thing about where i live is that, because i have lived here for so long, because my town is small, i know many people. It's home--and home is a feeling, not just a place.
How about you and your home? What's the best thing about it?

Texas -- way out in the country. I love the peace and quiet, at night there's a blanket of stars. You feel like the only person for miles, it is very tranquil. The sunsets are a blessing, front porch sitting with a hot cup of tea with all the trees and wildlife.

I live in west Texas just a stones throw from New Mexico. It's too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. It's 100 miles to the nearest large city (Lubbock, GO TEXAS TECH) The best thing about my place, other than its 2 miles to the nearest neighbor (and I have the quiet and solitudethat goes with that) is that it is in the United States of America, and I have all the freedoms that come with being a citizen of this great land!

I live in Granada, Spain. There are about 450.000 inhabitants. It is a nice city to live in, as everything is at hand. You can go walking almost everywhere. We have one of the most beautiful monuments in the world: The Alhambra. But it`s not the only one. It`s quite visited by tourists.
The beach is 60 kilometres (37,28 miles) far from the city centre.
Then we have the highest road in Europe, at 36 kilometres (22, 36 miles) getting to the peak called Veleta (although the last 5 kilometres are only for pedestrians, for ecological reasons); although that`s not our highest peak, there`s another one called Mulhacen but you have to get there just walking.
Our university is quite prestigious and it`s public, so the prices to study are not as high as in other private ones. Our selection proccess makes our university one with the highest marks to enroll some studies, specially Medicine, Physical Therapy or English Translation, those 3 have the highest mark to enter (over 8.5 out of 10). Students all over Andalucia (it is a region : all the south of Spain) come here to study, so there are many young people everywhere. It`s chosen by many foreign students to learn Spanish because of our "Centro de Lenguas Modernas", which is specialised in teaching foreign languages.
The weather is quite nice; in fact right now we are in the 80s, so we are having almost 5 1/2 months of summer now. In winter, the skiing resort in Sierra Nevada, the name of the mountain where the Veleta is, is quite appreciated by people all around Andalucia; even people from the centre of Spain come here to ski.
Finally, our food is great. We have "tapas" which are hot or cold snacks which you get with your drink, beer, wine or even soft drinks, FOR FREE!!! So sometimes you go out with friends and go into a couple of bars and with the "tapas" you get, you have your lunch.
People in Andalucia are quite extrovert and friendly, too. Thatçs another point.
I could go on and on, but it would be so so so long!!!

I live in Coeur d'Alene Idaho and the best thing about living here is the Mountains, streams, rivers and lakes! It is sooo beautiful here, we have 4 seasons, there is always something outside to do and the people here are friendly. In the summer we will go hiking along an old rock slide up to a mountain lake that is crystal clear to go camping. There are also trails to take our 4wheelers on and big lakes to take the boats and jet skis on. In the winter you can find us on the the slopes snowboarding all weekend.

We live out by Hemet, CA, in a 55+ community and love it. We live in an area that has not been developed fully yet, we have rolling hills and clear, blue skies. We feel like we are in the country, but with in 15 to 20 minutes of Temecula. But the 'best thing' and 'most important thing'…we live in America, land of the free and have so much to be thankful for. ;)

The trees are in technicolor splendor, and occasionally deer wander through my yard.
