I am looking for a nice but not so expensive hotel in Istanbul. Actually a little closer to Bogazici University's Main Campus. Does anyone know a good hotel like that? I prefer a small one but nice, you know family or small community environment.

Especially in the major cities (Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir). Since these areas are the most different from other muslim regions.

Do most of them pray regularly? Do most of them fast during ramadan? Is pre-marital sex and drinking alcohol common?

I plan on moving from paris to istanbul and I wanted to know a few things. How liberal is Turkey when it comes to sex and stuff? For example I live with my boyfriend and I plan on moving with him. I also wear mini-skirts in the summer.

Would that be acceptable in Turkey, especially in areas such as Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara? How common is stuff like pre-marital sex and live-in relationships, especially the major cities named above?

I hear many different things. Some people say its very liberal and has a sexually liberal culture unlike other muslim countries. Other people say that although its a secular country most people are practicing muslims and things like partying in nightclubs, live-in relationships, and pre-marital sex are looked down upon.

So which one is it?

Considering the bombing breaking out in Isreal. I have a cruise scheduled for the end of August, should I plan to go somewhere else instead? (travel insurance would cover the costs)

I would be sad about going somewhere else, I am really looking forward to seeing all the beautiful mosques and palaces... but this war that broke out is looking pretty scary...
