I live in Turkey. Yes, there are many turkeys around here. In villages, at the farms, even in big cities. You can find turkey meat in supermarkets. And you can buy an alive Turkey for the new year's day.
The animal has no effect on name of the country. Turkey is the English form of Turkiye, which means "land of Turks."

Never been to Turkey but I like the traditional music. There are turkeys in Turkey. Just do a google search "turkeys in Turkey" and you'll find lots of links to stories about the bird flu in Turkish turkeys. But they're not from India, but from North America. In just about every language they seem to be named for misconceptions of their origins. In Turkish, Arabic and a bunch of other languages they're called Hindi or something similar denoting a supposed Indian origin. In Portuguese they're called Peru! I don't know why everyone is so uptight about this question likely asked in simple inocent curiosity. There's probably a question on yahoo.com.br asking Tem perus no Peru? = Are there turkeys in Peru?

Your spelling is wrong. You should have written "turkeys in Turkey". I think your aim is bad to write like this. If this bad joke about turkey and Turkey makes you laugh that's ok. It's your sense of humour.

Let me tell you.
Turkey the animal was initially introduced to the world from India. This animal is referred to as Hindi in Turkish. And India is Hindistan. because the animal came from india it was named after India. The official name of the republic is actually Turkiye. Only in the US it is referred to as Turkey. I am Italian and have been to Turkey plenty of times and it is one of my favorite places to vacation.
This idiot French Spartan is everywhere. How did you like the world cup Frenchie?
