Especially in the major cities (Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir). Since these areas are the most different from other muslim regions.

Do most of them pray regularly? Do most of them fast during ramadan? Is pre-marital sex and drinking alcohol common?

Do they actually know anything about Islam, such as how to pray and read the quran? Or are they all just clueless?

i live in ankara and antalya -the 2 big cities of Turkey- and never aim to ask like this question because none of us has the right of argumentation of people's religion

In all three of the cities mentioned I would say almost none. They do not pray regularly. They do not fast. Pre-marital sex is very common and in fact they even drink alcohol during ramadan in most cases. I am Italian and have lived in Istanbul for 3 years and traveled to the other many times.

as some one how lives in izmir
it depends on the person most are not religous most do not do ramadan and drinking alcohol is very common like turkish raki or effe beer and yes they do have pre-marital sex
but they are nice people warm and friendly with a very modern aproach

Turkey isn't the only u . s . the place faith and state regulation are saved separated. It happens in Malaysia too. have self belief me plenty hassle had arise as this 2 regulations have been saved separated. (only to justify my evaluate your previous question) another muslim international places too do separate faith and state regulation. no longer in basic terms Turkey.

they do understand and know very much about their religion...they are more liberal and religion doesn't rule their life.

Some are more religious than others, but it's more like a european country rather than a religious type of country like those in the middle east.
