Well the annual 'Bir Kanadalı'nın Kıçına bir Tekme Atma Günü' ('Kick a Canadian in the A*se Day') is a bit of a problem - that's where the Turks all beat any Canadians they can with number plates and give them paper cuts with water bills. Generally it's best to stay at home those days...
Generally I'm impressed with the high level of knowledge that most Turks have about Canada. Like the person who once said to me, in shock, 'You're from Canada? But you're not Black!' or the fact that probably 25% or more Turks believe that Canada is part of the European Union...
Canadians are well-respected in Turkey for being not quite as loud, not quite as arrogant and not quite as ignorant of the world as our nearest neighbours are (I'm speaking, of course, of St.-Pierre et Miquelon).
Seriously, however, the guy above who said that any discrimination that exists is likely to be positive discrimination has got it right. Usually upon learning that I'm Canadian, Turks will be happy to relinquish their seats on the bus, let me in front of them in queues, empty their wallets into my hands and let me marry their first-born daughters. Why the hell else would I have been here for nine years? You think I like the baklava or something?

Yes there will be discrimination against Canadians. I mean positive discrimination. Westerners are treated like kings here. We do not hate Americans more that the rest of the world, that is just a paranoia.

All none nationals suffer discrimination in Turkey, they have there cars earmarked with differant number plates & even get charged higher water rates
