This year Ramazan (the month-long time of fasting) will take up most of October, ending on 26 October. People tend to get a bit cranky during Ramazan, but the final few days are a time of feasting. The Hippodrome in Sultanahmet, Istanbul, will be filled with food booths, all issuing enticing aromas and traditional foods to match. The weather is usually mild -- light jacket type. We will love to have you here.

Okay...I don't know about Turkey, but I know a bit about Greece and I believe that the best time to visit would be around summer...possibly late spring. That way it's not too hot or too cold...there is quite a difference in the temperature throughout the day (midday is hot and sunrise is chilly). Oh...try not to mention Turks to Greeks or vice versa while you're there unless you want to get into a historical debate and get into why they don't really like each other too much (aside from the more recent earthquake aid).
