I know that this question may sound weird, but if I were to choose between the two places, which would be the better place to live?

I know that Scandinavia is cleaner, safer and has far more tall blondes...yet still, Southern California has better weather and superior beaches and (I believe) more and better facillities.

What do you think??

If I was going to go on a vacation to a place where instead of sightseeing, I wanted to go peopleseeing and socializing, where would be the best place to go?

I've heard the Mediterranean is nice, but I was curious about Central Europe (Bulgaria, Ukraine, Poland, Estonia) and Scandinavia (especially Finland).

My dream vacation would be to see some interesting architecture (just different looking stuff), and make a few friends (men and women) I can keep in contact with when I leave. I am also an American, and from what I understand (what my grandma told me) being American can cause some issues in places like Russia Belarus, and Ukraine. Then again, my grandma is Finnish, so she is a little apprehensive towards the former Soviet nations.

Which city is cheaper to live in(in terms of accomodation, food, daily expenses)- Bordeaux/Lyon/Poitier?
Which is a cheaper form of transportation if I want to travel to other European countries: train/ plane/ car or bus (non-private)?
Is it cheaper to travel around europe if you are a student?
How long can I survive on 4000 euros- without travelling expenses but with daily expenses?
Is it hard to find a casual job in France if you are an international student and can only understand like 60% of french, 80% of written french?
Thank you...

I am writing a novel and need to know the distance between Los Angeles and Paris. It's not important, but something has to be written in 250 pages. Okay? Take your time, but hurry every chance you get.

Did you go alone or with friends? Which and how many countries did you visit; what sights did you see? Did you stay at hostels? How regularly did you eat out? I am especially interested in the experiences of women who backpacked through, but men are welcome to answer, too. :) Thanks.

if there were other continent flags maybe it would help yahoo with this problem

i just read an answer on a totally diffewrent subject and the person who answered it was from india and started the answer off that way

the way she wrote her answer it looked to me like the people from london who try to speak like gangsters and whenever i see this type of writing on a question i ignore it because i think they are trying to look hard or cool or something

but now i know that it seems to be from the people from india i might look at there questions more now

what do you think do you think it would be a good idea to be able to see what country the contributer of the question came from on the actual screen of the question

the thing is when i asked this some users (about 10% ) said it may lead to some racism on this site so i thought a continent flag may help to differentiate without being too local what do you think
thanks for your answers

Who's done some backpacking and wants to recommend some off the beaten track places to visit? I will be going from August to December 2008. I'd really like to visit places that aren't really touristy (e.g. Paris), places that you kind of just stumble into and are pleasantly suprised. So let me know of anywhere you've discovered on your adventures!
Thanks! :)

I am going to Europe and will be visiting 3 countries with my US passport. My question is ... will there be separate entry stamps for each country I visit in Europe?, or will I need one stamp for the entire trip?. In other words would they stamp my passport every time I cross borders within Europe?

We (2 adults, 2 children) need to travel from Vienna to Paris in Nov. I'd like to see Cologne and Brussels, too. We were told that if we buy a single ticket, we could make as many stopovers as the route allows. Any ideas of the best prices and schedules? Thanks!

We are stationed in Darmstadt, Germany, about 20 minutes from Frankfurt. My husband will be coming home from Iraq in January and has left me with the vacation planning and I have no idea what to do. We have a 5 yr. old and 3 yr. old so I need something that they would enjoy as well but the vacation needs to be something nice for him since he would have been in the desert for 15 months by the time he gets home. We are military so we are tight on money but I have been setting some aside. We have been to the Edelwiess lodge in Garmich during the summer months and I am thinking of us going back there to learn how to ski but wanted to see if anyone had any other GREAT ideas. Sorry to make this so long. Thanks for any help.

I have a small picture that I can't seem to post in here but these are all the clues i can see/I've been given:
It's in Europe
It seems to be either in a downtown area or really close. There are plenty of shops around.
The colors are mostly beigish stone and reddish shingles on occasion.
There is a big fountain infront of it with a statue of what could be a man on a horse [but could be something else, picture is so small!]
It seems to have a big clock in the front.
There seems to be a guard/watch tower but it could be part of the design...
I know that this could apply to many castles or fortresses but if anything slips into mind please let me know! Thanks!
