lived in jamaica for a year, but looking to bring my girlfriend who's never been to a cool island.... we like to hike, bike, do the beach... snorkel, looking ideally to find a cute shack on the beach to rent for a week!!! and knowledge, or ideas... google is hard to find things that aren't just tourist based. looking for local flavor...

I'm going on a limited budget, need fun things to do outside all-inclusive hotel. Also best place(s) there to by cheap souviners.

I am trying to plan my honeymoon for the end of August into early September and I am trying to obtain specific info no weather. I know it is hurricane season, but nobody can give me a specific temperature range for this period nor tell me if different areas of the Caribbean/Atlantic have a different risk vs. another??? We want to go somewhere hot, an all inclusive about 4-5 stars cannot take even a 3 star chance, we are looking at spending around $1000-1500 per, but this has to be nice, and safe where we can go shopping and tour not stuck behind some gate with a warning not to venture out. What's a good suggestion
