Perhaps the better question might be ---- what is your least favorite caribbean island & why?

Are any islands bad that have sunshine, beaches and a vacation atmosphere?

I've been to probably about 12 to 15 of the Caribbean Islands and I suppose if I had to chose only one island it would be Aruba. Aruba is a very small island about 6 miles wide & 8 miles long. It is part of the Netherland Antillies & Holland governed.

My favorite poem in the world is called "Welcome to Holland" by Emily Perl Kingsley. There is talk in that poem about windmills. Aruba has an authentic windmill that was a gift to them from Holland. If you will read that poem you will better understand what I'm about to say ... but when I go to Aruba each time - I find great healing simply by visiting this windmill.

I do hope you will read that poem. And I also hope when you have opportunity to go to Aruba and see the windmill yourself that you will say a prayer for those that made the trip to Holland (in the poem) as I have.

Puerto Rico. It's not called the "Island of Enchantment" for nothing. The island is warm and welcoming and so are the people there. There are festivals year round all over this great island. It's like a never ending party. They also have the Patron Saint Celebrations. There is one for each town or city. Puerto Ricans know how to entertain and have a great time too.

I have been to many of the carbbean islands and each islands is unique in certain ways because of mixture of people, french, dutch, british, spanish, indiands, caribs, some islands are more relax type than others like, Anguilla,Saba,Dominica,Trinidad (when they dont have carnival it is quite)others have more life all year. St.maarten/St.maartin, Curacao, Aruba are nice good bargains you can find on jewelries.Puerto Rico is Also good and for been an island it is really busyyy. The Dominican Republic is a busy country specially in the santo domingo. but punta cana and puerto plata or boca chica are less busy more relax. there is an island for any type of person. romantic, easy going, adventureous, exciting, bachelor "single men"..etc, etc.

Bonaire..you can access the water virtually anywhere around the island and dive/snorkel spots are well marked (the coast line isn't filled with homes and hotels, the people are friendly, it isn't touristy, it's safe and the weather is almost always the same, almost a guaranteed, perfect vacation. It's out of the hurricane belt, I think the last was in '99.

St. Lucia is the way to go. Windjammer Landing is the place to stay if you have a family, Anse Chastanet is awesome for snorkeling/scuba diving. Perfect weather, scuba diving, sailing, food, you name it. Plus the island is hosting the 2007 Cricket World Cup, if your into that sort of stuff.
