How much does the negative attitude towards gays affect natives and tourists on Jamaica? Are there any restrictive laws? How is the situation compared with other Carribean states? Or is there no real point about it, just myth / prejudice?

I have a trip planned to take to Montego Bay next month. I knew it was risky when I booked but it is my birthday and I really wanted to go to Jamaica. Should I try to get my money back or is it likely that the resort will be up and running?

Apart from isolated area on the southeast of the island, Jamaicans can give thanks.

A few trees fell down close to my home, but we were all fine.
Dean kept on a track almost paralell to the island instead of the earlier prediction of it coming diagonally- as was with hurricane Gilbert.

I checked with my family in the rural parts, and the feeling is that everyone is OK, some serious falling of trees, a few blown off houses, but still a lot to give thanks for, based on what was earlier predicted.

No power at home as yet, I am actually at work, [I am one of the designated 'point persons'], checking connectivity and checking to make sure the rest of staff is OK.

Thanks again friends.

I just completed my family's final preparations here in Montego Bay. I also made a few calls to my family in Beeston Spring, Westmoreland making sure eveyone is fully prepare (as much as we can)

I am getting great support from my online friends. Thank You.
You can still send me your email here:

But please bear in mind that I may not be able to respond anytime soon as the radio reported that power supply will go out anytime now.

Keep the prayers coming.

( like nails, hair and other beauty care). and third, how is the health care, like prenatal care? I'm planning on having my second child with him there in jamaica. let me what you think!!!!

As a fan of reggae and dancehall, I would like yahoo to add a reggae and soca section as part of the music catergory. Reason being is because we at times have questions about music, and we are not able to get alot of responses, as would a rap question. Also there has been others who would like to have these sections added as well. Anyway feel free to look at the question. I already sent the request to yahoo. I am just waiting for a response.

Heading to Ochos Rios this week. Heard the road was being updated, any news on this?

The article in USA Today on tourism and road deaths made me curious.

I am going on honeymoon in a few weeks. We are staying at a Sandals resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. I am confused - is US dollars the best currency to use, or should we take a mix of US and Jamaican dollars?
