Cheers

You are better off changing it to late November, when the temps come down and prices are still good. Cheap season is May1-Dec 1, High season is Dec 1-April 30...

Worst Jamica storms:
Ivan was 2004, Sept 11-12 (Brushed the west coast, high damage)
Gilbert was 1988, Sept 12 (Direct bad hit)
Wilma 2005, Oct (storm damage, not too bad)

It's a crap shoot from August to early Nov, but late Aug and all of Sept is the hot season for carribean storms. Hurricanes have tended to hit more north late in he year.

I'll be going to Negril in 3 weeks, no change of plans and no fear of hurricanes. Think about your plans if you're worried. You have plenty of time and November would be a nicer month for the wedding.

There is no pattern, otherwise people could organise their lives round it! Besides, even if one could predict the arrival of the various hurricanes, there would be no way of mapping the course taken. Dean, for example, looked at first as though the eye would pass straight over Jamaica, but in the event it moved down and the damage was far less than might have been feared. If you want to do a little research, here is a link, but the best thing is to plan on going ahead with the wedding and hope and pray that there will not be anything to ruin your happy day (and days). http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/pastall.shtml

Dean will extra suitable than probably consequence Jamaica In a pair of days i think. yet with a hundred forty five MPH winds actual now if it hits Jamaica head on, there will be injury and skill outages prolly everywhere i might carry off some months so issues gets straightened out from the aftermath.

I just left Jamaica Sat, from a wedding that was Friday.

Honestly, i was pretty pissed off even before going that the couple planned in for August, with hurricane season, and planning it for a warm beach location - IN THE SUMMER! My money would be better spent in a colder season. Unless you are buying everyones tickets and their evacuation tickets out - these were about $700-$1500 each.

well when i was living back home in 2004, there was hurricane Ivan, dnt remember the moth though, that was the one before dean, you can never predict, there's no real pattern but i should say ivan and dean and the one inbetween (dnt remember the name) were not direct hits, thank God, the last direct hit was in 1988 when i was conceived, the eye always passes under or above us. People say its because we're a praying nation and a large majority of us are christians.

Hurricane season lasts officially from June til November each year. I can't believe that for such a big ocasion that you didn't check this out first. Of course the travel agent wont tell you this, as they're only interested in your money. If I were you, I'd re-arrange the dates, you still have plenty of time.

Good luck, hope everything turns out right.

next year. NEXT YEAR? Talking about planning......wow.

I would not get so knotted up over things that I have absolutely no control over. If it happens, it does. Hakuna Matata.......!!

I do not know you - but here it is: Congratulations on your next major step in your life. I wish you all the best. Just enjoy and don't think too deep about such things.

If you could stop the hurricane you would. Won't you? So, just relax.
