Apart from isolated area on the southeast of the island, Jamaicans can give thanks.

A few trees fell down close to my home, but we were all fine.
Dean kept on a track almost paralell to the island instead of the earlier prediction of it coming diagonally- as was with hurricane Gilbert.

I checked with my family in the rural parts, and the feeling is that everyone is OK, some serious falling of trees, a few blown off houses, but still a lot to give thanks for, based on what was earlier predicted.

No power at home as yet, I am actually at work, [I am one of the designated 'point persons'], checking connectivity and checking to make sure the rest of staff is OK.

Thanks again friends.

As soon as I know a storm is going to track away from us there is always a huge sense of relief, but when not hitting us means it's hitting someone else...I was so glad to see it take just that slight southern track that meant it wasn't a direct hit to Jamaica.

eh, Islanders are a resilient bunch, hopefully people are helping each other out and securing roofs and moving debris. Good luck!

Good thoughts shifting to Belize and co. now...

Thank you for filling us in. Although only a tourist, I keep thinking of the workers who were so generous to help us out, and spent the day working instead of home preparing with their families. The news only reports the terrible things, and its good to get an update that people are safe.

Glad you are safe bro.

I spoke to my bros today and one of them said that his house roof blew off.He lives in Potmore but the rest did not have anything damaged.

I am just glad that everyone is safe and that though man doomed Jamaica,we know the GOD we serve in.

Bless

I was praying for Jamaica since Dean started. I'm glad there was not a lot of loss of life or damage. I hope recovery is quick and relatively easy.

Glad to hear that my people were spared again. Much love and respect to my fellow Jamaicans for their strength and courage even when facing possible catastrophe. Those of us abroad want you all to know that our minds and spirits are one with you. "Out of Many, One People." One love.

This is good to hear. I was just there last week on vacation and I have family there. I've been unable to get in contact with people I know there. I hope they are fine.
